The downside to this trip was that there were two or three school groups so it kept me guessing where my little boy ended up. Seriously I would blink and he was gone! Kind of scary for me, but he loved it. Jake loved the dress up costumes. There was even a Shrek costume that was so funny! He does this funny dog/cat/gorilla crawl/run on all fours. He is pretty proficient at that and he knows that gorillas use their knuckles and it makes me cringe when he does it on our hardwood floor.

Sickness
so it started with a fever that became a cough and eventually back to a fever that became a sinus infection that required antibiotics from the doctor. I knew I needed to take little Jake to the doctor when he was too sick to watch cartoons....he fell asleep in the chair.
He loved the Nemo fish tank in the front office but really hated the doctor pulling wax out of his ear so he could see if it was an ear infection. He screamed and cried for awhile...so sad.
Then the sickness went to Peter who never gets sick. He even looked sick once. I had him practice his "sick" look. It really needed practice. He eventually "got the look" of being sick.
Me on the other hand, well, I am sick now. And must be for sure because Peter said so this morning. thanks peter. But, I really am. Sore throat, sinus congestion. Couldn't sleep last night...miserable.
So....a few cute incidents in the last couple of weeks include this morning when I was coughing and feeling most miserable. I was still laying in bed and of course lil Jake had crawled in to bed with us sometime last night. Well, my coughing disturbed him and he patted me on the back and said, "it's ok mom"
The first week when Jake was not feeling well we were up in the middle of the night so I gave hime some tylenol. Usually he will walk around by himself when he is up in the middle of the night, but, being sick I was carrying him. So, as I was trying to get the medicine open with one hand and holding him in the process he said, " you take care of me mom, I love you" I almost cried it was so sweet.
Then, yesterday. I didn't go to church for being sick and after Peter got back from home teaching I was laying on the couch and Peter wanted to say a closing-the-fast-day prayer. So he came over to me. But before he knelt down Jake was there and had his hand on my head. He thought it was blessing time. So, Peter took the que and gave me a blessing. Meanwhile Jake put his hand on my head a repeated most of what Peter said. He just wanted to help out his sick mom. He is not yet three and shows promising signs of being a spiritual giant. My son. How could I ever be blessed more?

Bedtime inspirations
So, trying to convince a 2 1/2 year old that sleep is good for him brings out the best convincing power a mom and dad can muster. We convinced Jake that he grows bigger when he sleeps and eats. WEll, soon after bedtime he came out and told Peter that he was bigger!
