Moab 2011

The sand was so hot it was uncomfortable to stay in  one spot for very long, but our feet got used to it after awhile that Jacob could sit and wait for Peter to come down from the top of the red sand dune.

It was easier to rush down. That way it had less heat impact on the feet.

Dallas Llewellen, Jacob and Peter had to cool their feet in the mucky red mud. Very therapeutic!

Jacob exploring, and then. . .

Down he went! That mud was SLICK!

Emilie posing. Hiking up to Arches at night, not the best idea without flashlights, but luckily there were some Russian hikers with flashlights that "helped" us. They walked behind us and kept their lights on our behinds. For some reason they kept laughing. I thanked them for the light and Emilie just thought they were pervs. :) I guess we will never know!

We made it!

Even Jacob did too! Peter carried him on his shoulders most of the way. Go Peter!

Dallas made it too! He is our neighbor that came along with us. What a trooper.

Keilana, Leiniel, Emilie and Loren Lybbert. The ones who showed us how a Moab trip should happen. Thanks guys!

Don't we all look a bit miserable? End of hike faces.

Next day we went to the petraglyphs. Which ones are which I cannot tell.

YW Camp 2010

The Summer of 2010 was epic in my book. Trek, YW camp with four weeks notice. And Disney Land. All in one summer. Whew. No wonder it seems blurry to me now!
Camp Highlights:
Went with Hillary Molynaux(wonder when I will ever learn to spell that name right), Alyse Barber, Jaqualine Fairbanks. Plus, of course all the Geneva Heights 8th ward girls. Nicole, Britany and Salena Unga, Andrea Johanson, Marie Fountain, Janna Thomas, Sammy, Shaila,  Natalia Green, Ruth. I think that is all.
  • I screamed on the Confidence Course
  • Canoeing
  • Hiking
  • Bat and mice in the cabin
  • Potguts AKA prairie dogs ALL over camp
  • Learning to cook on a gas grill in the outdoors.
  • Starting a fire in the rain...hmmm
  • Freezing cold water to wash our hair once while we were there
  • Amazing girls
  • Learning the HAKA

Trek 2010

So Trek 2010 was something else already. Why have I waited so long to write about this? I don't know. Lots of other stuff going on, I guess. So Trek was awesomely good, hard and exhausting. A few highlights:
  • Peter volunteered us. Thanks Peter.
  • I went along with it.
  • I made my skirts and bonnets
  • Windy
  • Cold
  • Heat exhaustion for me
  • Blisters for Peter
  • I was the ward Historian. In other words I took lots of pictures
  • Peter was the First Aid person for our ward
  • Getting to cross the river was an adventure that I almost skipped, then jumped in and did it along with some other intimidated girls from our ward. Ooooh, was it COLD. But worth it.
  • Tanya, Peter's sister came with us. After making friends she did fine.
  • The first night we thought the world was being swept away by a ferocious wind. Tents were broken and flew away in the wind. It was as if the gates of hell were opened up against us. Awe-full first night! The morning broke with clear and lovely skies. The scene of destruction from the winds aftermath was impressive.
  • Torri and Cassidy Ellis were the Ma and Pa.
